Babins named Windsor Award honorees

PATH has announced the 2023 Gertrude Windsor Award honorees as FPC Tyler congregation members Kathy and Wayne Babin.

Kathy and Wayne have been involved in every aspect of the Tyler community. Wayne was a general dentist specializing in treating children for over 47 years! He retired in 2020 due to the pandemic but would still be at work today without COVID. Kathy had a variety of careers, including teacher, geologist, store owner, and dental practice manager.

Even with their success in the work world, Kathy says that their best effort and proudest accomplishment was spent raising their three children, David, Sarah, and Abby. Retirement is still busy for Kathy and Wayne, with time spent volunteering at home and traveling to enjoy their children, their spouses, and five granddaughters. They also are active and loving members of First Presbyterian Church.

Kathy’s connection with PATH includes serving on the board of directors for six years, culminating with board chair in 2018. “Caring for our community is a central focus of our church and for us,” says Kathy. “PATH is the best organization we know to help in effective ways those who, for reasons beyond their control, need help. It all comes down to neighbors helping neighbors; that’s why Wayne and I believe in and continue to support PATH.”

Kathy and Wayne will be recognized as part of the PATH Week Celebration Dinner on Thursday, September 7, 6:30 pm at Crosswalk Conference Center at Green Acres Baptist Church.
