provoke one another to love and good deeds
— Hebrews 10:24

Update:

Sunday is the last day for donations! Join us as we celebrate this special time of giving during worship at 11 a.m. We’ll also announce the Sunday School class who collected the most items. Keep bringing in your canned goods and other non-perishable items throughout the week and on Sunday. We’re currently just over 4,000 items! Can we make it to 6,000?

First Presbyterian Church in Tyler has a great Souper Bowl history, with last year’s event being the biggest yet for our church where we collected 12,200 canned goods and non-perishable items!

Let’s do it again, with Souper Bowl 2019 collections beginning on Sunday, January 20. A general collection box for canned goods will be stationed near the main floor elevator and in Fellowship Hall. Sunday School classes and other small groups are also invited to set up their own collection boxes. These groups will compete for the most donations, and the grand prize will be a breakfast of the group’s choice served by the FPC Youth! All items collected will go to Patriot Pantry at UT Tyler.

Sunday School Showdown!

From now until February 10, we are challenging each Sunday school class to collect the most canned goods.  The winning class will get a free catered breakfast compliments of Student Ministry. Let’s get in the spirit of giving and donate canned goods to help feed the hungry!

Please give generously on Super Bowl Sunday, February 10. Look for a youth with a soup pot by any church entrance.

History:

More than 27 years ago, the Souper Bowl of Caring began with a simple prayer from a single youth group: “Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those without a bowl of soup to eat.”

Since that day, more than $110 million has been raised for local charities across the country through Souper Bowl of Caring. It has become a powerful movement that is transforming the time around the Big Game into the nation’s largest celebration of giving and serving.

Through this mission young people learn what it’s like to make a positive difference in the world—as they collect food, raise money and volunteer to work in charities that provide shelter to the homeless, food to the hungry and compassion to those in need.

Be part of this movement that is sharing God’s love with those in need. Please give generously on Super Bowl Sunday, February 10. Look for a youth with a soup pot by any church entrance. Every dollar and can of food donated goes to Patriot Pantry at University of Texas Tyler.
