2019 Mardi Gras For Missions Update


Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Merci Beaucoup to all who attended, supported, and volunteered to help make this year’s event a success! The good times did roll! And we estimate that approximately $5,000 was raised for our Mission Partners!

  • Thank you to our fabulous gumbo cooks: Carol Allen, David Palady, Catherine Christian, Catherine Moranda, Sally Smith-Garmon, Cristy Arscott, Scott Dubre, Laura Resler, Denning Key, Florrie Wallace, Julie Launey, Rebecca Ruediger, and Bob Schmoker.

  • Tremendous gratitude goes to Vandy Dubre and her team who cooked beignets on site, and to Wayne Babin, Celia Bunt and Janet Bulls who made “crème de la crème” desserts for the Live Auction.

  • A huge thank you to the Caldwell Arts Elementary School Brass Band and the Hopewell C.M.E. Church puppeteers for their lively entertainment.

  • We appreciate David Palady for his creation of “floats” for the children’s parade.

  • Thank you to our youth who tirelessly painted faces, sold desserts, and helped where needed: Hanna Meg Leach, Juliana Leach, Iris VerNooy, and Tye Jones.

  • We are grateful to all our Sunday School classes and Chancel Choir for the fabulous and creative donations of gift baskets for the Silent Auction! The following donors to our Silent Auction and Raffle prize are to be thanked as well: Richard Lee & Julie Philley, Mary Ann Post & Sally Smith-Garmon, Attorney Mike Allen, Kiepersol Estates, 360 Fitness, Oak Hurst Golf Course, Cole & Co., Willow Brook Country Club, David Finlay, Ben Shepperd, CPA, Abuelo’s, Dakotas, FD’s Grillhouse, Hand & Stone Spa, QT Nails Spa, and Sweet Gourmet.

  • And, last but not least, we thank those who helped set up and clean up: Terry Witter, Lora Savoie, Jim Garmon, Hank & Laura Resler, Bob Schmoker, and Jessie Caldwell.

There are spots still available at the “Paint, Sip and Nibble” Party to be held on Saturday, April 6 at 6 pm at the home of Sally Smith-Garmon. Artist Mary Ann Post will instruct us in painting, and canvas, supplies, cocktails and buffet are included in the cost of $50 per person.
